Sing-sing is a traditional celebration in Papuan tribal society. Influential chieftains - bigmen - gather entertainers who play music, dance and scare the odience with bows and arrows.

Men in the swampy region around the Sepik worship crocodiles as part of their crocodile cult. They often gather in big “spirit houses” where, among other things, the initiation rites are held. To become men, young boys undergo scarification of their chests and skin. Patterns of scars are made to form the face of a crocodile - a king of swamp – on their bodies.

A unique custom of the highlands people is still alive. Pigs are the most important and sacred animals to the people, so when a piglet losses its mother, women breastfeed it.
